The short version
- I write supplements on collision and hail files, in your CCC ONE or Mitchell account, under your shop's name.
- Every added operation is line noted with the reason it is on the file.
- Your shop sends the supplement to the carrier. I don't follow up on or chase the file.
- If an appraiser doesn't understand a non-standard line I wrote, I explain it to them.
- A supplement uses one credit, the same as an estimate. The first file is free.
When a collision supplement gets written
Most supplements I write start one of two ways.
Against a carrier estimate you believe is short. Send the carrier's estimate, the denial or short-pay paperwork, and your photographs. I go through the repair the vehicle needs and write the operations, parts and materials the carrier's estimate left out.
After teardown. Once the vehicle is apart, there is often damage and access work nobody could see at the first inspection. Send the teardown photographs and the estimate already on the file, and I write the supplement for what teardown found.
I write supplements on files your shop wrote and on files a carrier issued. Hail and PDR files are most of the work, and I write collision supplements too.
How a collision supplement gets written
Send the file
Upload the estimate on the file, the photographs, and any denial or short-pay paperwork on the upload page.
I write the supplement
I write it in your CCC ONE or Mitchell account. Every added operation is line noted with its reasoning. Turnaround is 24 hours from a complete set of photographs and documentation, or 24 to 72 hours at catastrophe volume.
Your shop sends it
The supplement is in your account for your shop to review and send to the carrier. It is better for the shop to be seen sending its own supplements.
If the appraiser asks about a line
When an appraiser doesn't understand a non-standard line I wrote, I explain the reasoning to them. A line that genuinely isn't supportable gets withdrawn rather than argued.
Supplement lines from a real estimate
These lines are from a CCC ONE estimate I wrote for Extreme Hail & Collision on a 2025 Honda CR-V Hybrid. They are the kind of lines a carrier estimate leaves out and a supplement puts back.

What I do on a supplement, and what your shop does
I write the supplement, line note every added operation, and explain non-standard lines to the appraiser when they ask about them. If a line genuinely isn't supportable, I withdraw it rather than argue it.
Your shop sends the supplement to the carrier and handles the file from there. I don't send estimates or supplements to the carrier, I don't follow up on or chase the file, and I don't manage your shop's admin.
If you want claim and file management on hail work, that is covered on the hail claim management page.
Collision supplement pricing
A supplement uses one credit, the same as an estimate. Credits never expire, there are no monthly minimums, and the price is never a percentage of the estimate.

Questions shops ask about collision supplements
What is a collision supplement?
A collision supplement is an addition to an existing repair estimate for operations, parts or damage the first estimate left out. It is usually written after teardown shows damage that could not be seen before, or when the carrier's estimate is short of what the repair requires.
Can you write a supplement against the insurance company's estimate?
Yes. Send the carrier estimate you believe is short, along with the denial or short-pay paperwork and your photographs. I write the supplement in your CCC ONE or Mitchell account with every added operation line noted.
Do you send the supplement to the carrier?
No. Your shop sends it, because it is better for the shop to be seen sending its own supplements. I don't follow up on or chase the file, and I don't manage the shop's admin.
What happens if the appraiser questions a line?
If an appraiser doesn't understand a non-standard line I wrote, I explain the reasoning to them. Two common examples are adjacent panel repair, such as a roof rail that will be damaged by removing and replacing the roof, and taking the doors off for proper paint and clear coat coverage. A line that genuinely isn't supportable gets withdrawn rather than argued.
How much does a collision supplement cost?
A supplement uses one credit, the same as an estimate. The first file is free: one vehicle, no card required, no contract. One credit is $150, and packs bring the price down to $140, $132, $125 or $115 per file. Credits never expire and the price is never a percentage of the estimate.
Do you write hail supplements?
Yes. Hail and PDR files are most of what I write, and I write supplements on collision files too. Turnaround is 24 hours from a complete set of photographs and documentation, or 24 to 72 hours at catastrophe volume.
