Storm Rider Solutions / Hail claim management

Hail claim management for repair shops

Hail claim management at Storm Rider Solutions is the estimate and supplement side of your hail claims, with a status update at each step. I write every file myself, in your CCC ONE or Mitchell, under your shop name. Your shop runs its claims and sends the file to the carrier.

The short version

  • I write the hail estimate and every supplement, with a status update when the file is received, when it is written, and when it is placed in the drive for you to send.
  • Your shop runs its own claims. If your shop signs up for Easy Shop, you run it; I don't run your shop.
  • I do not send estimates or supplements to the carrier, I do not follow up on or chase the file, and I do not manage your shop's admin.
  • The first file is free. After that, one credit per estimate or supplement, from $150 down to $115 per file.

What hail claim management includes

The writing I do for you, and the status updates that tell you where each file is.

Estimate and supplement writing, with status updates. I write the hail estimate and each supplement inside your own CCC ONE or Mitchell account, under your shop name, with every operation line noted with its reasoning. You get a status update at three points:

  1. when the file is received;
  2. when it is written;
  3. when it is placed in the drive for your shop to send.

Turnaround is 24 hours from receipt of a complete set of photographs and documentation. At catastrophe (CAT) volume it is 24 to 72 hours, and I tell you before you send the cars if a week will land on the long end.

If your shop uses Easy Shop. Easy Shop is shop management software from the same company. A shop signs up for it and runs it; I don't run your shop or your Easy Shop. Shops that use it can import the CCC ONE or Mitchell file I write onto the job, keep the claim, adjuster, supplements and approval dates on the job, and send text messages and emails from it. You don't need Easy Shop to send me files.

How a hail claim moves through the file

The order of work on a single vehicle, from what you send to what you send on.

  1. You send the file

Upload photographs, a hail matrix or scope sheet (handwritten is fine), a Mobile Tech RX export, an existing CCC ONE or Mitchell file, or a carrier estimate you believe is short with the denial or short-pay paperwork. You get a status update that the file was received.

  2. I write the estimate or supplement

The file is written in your CCC ONE or Mitchell, under your shop name, with each operation line noted. You get a status update that it is written.

  3. The file goes in the drive

The finished estimate or supplement is placed in the drive for your shop to send, and you get a status update that it is there.

  4. Your shop sends it to the carrier

You send the file from your shop. It is better for the shop to be seen sending its own estimates and supplements.

Mobile Tech RX is a trademark of its owner. Storm Rider Solutions is not affiliated with it. There is no software integration: you export, and I write the insurance estimate from the export in CCC ONE or Mitchell.

What this hail claim service does not cover

These limits are listed here so you know what you are paying for before you send a file.

What I do

  • Write the hail estimate in your CCC ONE or Mitchell.
  • Write supplements on files you or a carrier already wrote.
  • Send a status update when the file is received, when it is written, and when it is in the drive.
  • Explain a non-standard line I wrote to an appraiser who does not understand it.

What I do not do

  • I do not send estimates or supplements to the carrier. Your shop sends them, because it is better for the shop to be seen sending them.
  • I do not follow up on or chase the file.
  • I do not manage your shop's admin or run your shop.

Explaining a line is different from managing the claim. Some operations are not standard and an appraiser may not see why they are on the estimate. Two common ones are adjacent panel repair, where the roof rail is damaged by removing and replacing the roof, and taking the doors off so the roof rail gets proper paint and clear coat coverage. When an appraiser asks about lines like these, I explain the reasoning to them. A line that genuinely is not supportable gets withdrawn rather than argued.

What these lines show. Line 49 replaces the right roof rail because removing and replacing the roof will damage it, and the note says so. Lines 87 to 89 take both doors off so the roof rail can be refinished with proper coverage. These are the kind of non-standard lines an appraiser may ask about. The reasoning is already written on the estimate, and if they still have questions, I explain it to them. Your shop still sends the file.

Questions shops ask about hail claim management

What is hail claim management?

Hail claim management at Storm Rider Solutions is the estimate and supplement side of a hail claim. Christopher Johnson writes the hail estimate and every supplement in the shop's own CCC ONE or Mitchell, and the shop gets a status update when the file is received, when it is written, and when it is placed in the drive for the shop to send. The shop runs its own claims and its own admin, and sends its own files.

Do you send the estimate or supplement to the insurance company?

No. The shop sends every estimate and supplement to the carrier. It is better for the shop to be seen sending its own files, so the finished file is placed in the drive and the shop sends it.

Will you follow up with the adjuster or chase the file?

No. Storm Rider Solutions does not follow up on or chase the file, and it does not manage the shop's admin. If an appraiser does not understand a non-standard line that was written, such as adjacent panel repair or taking the doors off for refinish coverage, Christopher Johnson will explain the reasoning behind that line to them. That is explaining the work, not following up on the claim.

How will I know where my file is?

You get a status update at three points: when the file is received, when it is written, and when it is placed in the drive for you to send. Turnaround is 24 hours from receipt of a complete set of photographs and documentation, and 24 to 72 hours at catastrophe volume.

Do you run my shop's Easy Shop?

No. Easy Shop is shop management software that a shop signs up for and runs itself. Storm Rider Solutions does not run the shop's Easy Shop or the shop. Shops that use Easy Shop can import the CCC ONE or Mitchell file onto the job, keep the claim, adjuster, supplements and approval dates on the job, and send text messages and emails from it. Easy Shop is not required to send files.

What does hail claim management cost?

The first file is free: one vehicle, no card required, no contract. After that, each estimate or supplement uses one credit. One credit is $150. Packs bring it down to $140, $132, $125 and $115 per file. Credits never expire, there are no monthly minimums, and the price is never a percentage of the estimate.
